Generation & The Carlyle Group acquire site near Tate Modern

The Generation student housing joint venture with The Carlyle Group today completed the purchase of a disused car park at Ewer Street in Bankside, Southwark. The site was purchased from Workspace Group plc.

The site has capacity for a new purpose built student accommodation building of 150 beds that is being designed by TP Bennett Architects.

The location is very well suited to the proposed use as it is within easy walking distance of a number major universities including both King’s College and LSE.

Gareth Davies, Director of Generation said “We are pleased to close another transaction with Workspace Group and to secure this excellent site which is on the very vibrant South Bank with its excellent amenities”.

The joint venture is now working with TP Bennett and dp9 to obtain planning consent.
